Not only does Ciera know firsthand what it’s like to wait for an organ, she has experienced her life being saved thanks to an organ donor. She received the gift of a heart transplant in 2015 and for many years was able to thrive. However, the medication regimen for transplant patients is rigorous, and it took its toll on her body. As a result, she found herself in kidney failure and back on the transplant waiting list. Ciera knows she has so much more life to live and waits for the call that a generous donor will give her a shot at it.
